This is the most beautiful waterfall in VA! It's a strenuous hike to the top but WELL worth the effort!

My favorite
by: Helen

I have seen many waterfalls over time and Crabtree is wonderful. The hike is two miles to the top with a lot of stairs but each level is a new waterfall. My favorite is the middle. It is only 60ft is hieght but very deep, you can only see a piece in each level. You will enjoy it.

Visiting Crabtree
by: Jeff

It is a great waterfall, but often extremely crowded with tourists on nice weekends. Disappointing with low flow as in late summer or drought conditions, visit in spring with heavier flow or mid winter with ice. This waterfall is a killer with around 25 deaths, including one in 2008. Should go without saying to stay off the wet rocks around the falls, but every time I visit someone is doing it.

Downed Tree
by: Wm. Harvie

First car in lot, Wednesday 8/8/12. Nice safe trail with good flow for August. Good viewing platforms along way. At 0.7 of total 1.7 miles, we found downed tree across trail about 4' high. Could have climbed over, but wife's questionable hip prevented further up falls climb. Too bad. Water had reduced to trickles, but suspect there are better flows up trail.
